Initial Investigation
25‑Jan‑2018 by Benjamin Martin
I met with Pete , Operations Manager, and Barry Master, Engineering/Maintenance Manager, and confirmed that Ken's Food is not a Air Permitted Facility. In the last year Ken's Food has been in the process of switching from aerobic to anaerobic wastewater system and have installed a digester and methane capture system that requires a flare. I got a tour of the new system and they are actively working to get the system online. The flare is currently not operating due to a faulty part which will be replaced next week. Only a small amount of methane is releasing as the anaerobic system is not fully operational. In the future the flare will be run 24 hr a day and eventually Ken's Food will be installing a cogeneration operation to capture the methane and burn it in a generator to offset electricity coasts for the plant.
