Follow-Up Investigation
30‑Sep‑2019 by Msengi Mgonella
The Division received a response from the Company on September 27th. The facility's Environmental Healthy and Safety Administrator, Ms. Ashley Eldridge, stated that the mill has already replaced cyclone 9300, which was the main cause of sawdust at the facility.
The replacement was completed between September 7th and September 9th, and the cyclone has been performing well. Hence, the Company does not believe to be the source of the saw dust problem described in the complaint. However, the Company will continue to monitor its process and address issues if needed.
Called the Complainant on September 30th, and left her a voice mail message. Received a phone call from the Complainant on September 30th, and relayed to her the information which the Division received from the Company . The Complainant stated that she is still experiencing fine dust particles around her property.
The Complainant was told that an announced air quality inspection would be conducted at the facility in the near future to identify the root cause of the fine dust particles.
The recommended action is the closure of the complaint.
