THE CALLER IS REPORTING A RELEASE (12.5%) SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE ONTO THE GROUND FROM AN UNKNOWN SOURCE. THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT IS ALSO UNKNOWN, BUT THE INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY.

Follow-Up Investigation Report

Brent Howell emailed the follow-up report regarding the spill (attached). The waste dirt, limestone, and oil dry were placed in the on-site sludge disposal cell which is part of their NPDES permit.
Recommend report be closed with no further EPD ERT action needed at this time.
Initial Investigation
31‑May‑2022 by Jed Hewitt
I spoke with Brent who reported that the spill more than likely was contained to the paper mill facility. The product is used on their on site wastewater treatment facility. The quantity spilled was unknown at the time of the report. Brent was headed into work this morning to investigate further. I provided the CTS tracking number and will follow up as appropriate.
